Website and VIN parts lookup for an auto service network

Challenge

A business that repairs cars and sells parts in several locations gets the same two questions all day: can you fix my car, and do you have this part for it. The site had to answer both quickly, on a phone, without making people call to find out the basics.

Approach

The site existed before; I reworked and extended it.

  • Home page. A dense but calm card layout: service booking and parts side by side, the bonus programme (up to 7% back in points on purchases and repairs), opening hours with the address of the nearest location, and short proof points such as warranty and stock.
  • Parts by VIN. A dedicated page where the customer sends a VIN or a photo of the vehicle registration certificate and gets a reply with the price and availability. The customer picks a city and a store first, so the request reaches the right location.
  • Product imagery. The parts page is carried by clean product shots on a light background.
  • Consent. A cookie banner with “necessary only”, “accept all” and per-category settings; analytics runs only with consent.

Result

Both main requests, a repair booking and a part by VIN, are one step from any page, and the parts flow sends each request to the right store. Related case: CRM, telephony and call analytics. More about web development.
